Marcelo D2 is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of latin hip-hop. From his beginnings fronting the popular Brazilian band, Planet Hemp to the international recognition gained during his solo career, this Rio de Janeiro native has been credited with creating a unique blend of traditional samba and hip-hop. His style consists of live latin loops, beats, samples and scratches that has landed him performances around the world alongside artists such as Stevie Wonder and Erykah Badu. You don't need to speak Portuguese to appreciate this act - words might not always translate, but rhythm and passion certainly do.
